About DVP

Dave Pronenko Hitting Driver
Husband, Father, Advertising Specialist, Businessman, Commercial Real Estate Agent, Income Property Specialist, Golfer: Born David Victor Pronenko on May 20, 1961, in Chicago, Ill. The first of five children. My Father and Mother were both born in Kiev, Ukraine migrated through Germany to Canada then to Chicago, settling in Southern California when I was less than a year old. I have two younger brothers and two younger non identical twin sisters.
I married my wife, Karen in 1982 and we remain together to this day. I took up golf soon after marrying Karen to periodically play golf with my father-in-law. Little did I know golf would become such a significant part of my life. Focused primarily on weight training / body building at that time, I played only to see how far I could hit the ball. As it is with so many others who play the game of golf, I was challenged... and hooked. I played off and on up to about the time I had my first child then put the game on the backburner due to time constraints, family and business.

I attended Orange Coast College. Also, while at International Data Group, I attended advanced training programs geared to elevate my career in the publishing industry. By way of these programs and the mentoring of a few very gracious men, I advanced through the ranks in the publishing industry and associated with, worked for and served leaders of industry. Business Background

I earned the opportunity to be employed by some of the world's largest and best known magazines publishers. Initially, in the computer trade publishing industry, I sold advertising for MicroMarketWorld, NetworkWorld and InfoWorld (All published by International Data Group, IDG). In the consumer publishing industry, Road & Track Magazine (Hachette Filipacchi) and Discover Magazine (The Disney Company). I was a top performer at each publication.

In 1998, I was recruited to head a worldwide sales and marketing effort for the computer technology company, Minds@Work. I traveled the United States and Europe developing relationships and opening channels of distribution with retailers such as Best Buy, Circuit City J&R Music World to name a few.

My golf clubs accompanied me on many of my travels and played golf with clients and when ever time allowed. I began studying golf swings, good and bad. I began to practice and play with a purpose and established a respectable game and the good fortune of doing so on some of the best golf courses in the U.S. and Europe. But I wanted more... I  wanted to see how good I could get.
Travels

With my first son born in 1989, a second son in 1991 and a daughter born in 1992, I had little time for practice but the challenge of controlling the flight of a golf ball was something that intrigued me. I found himself on the practice tee whenever ever possible and periodically competed in events in Southern California and became a Golden State Tour as an amateur.

Never afraid to put myself in the thick of it, I attempted to qualify for events on the Ben Hogan Tour, USGA, SCGA, local city championships and local charity events. At times, I could shoot rounds in the mid to high 70's but not frequently. I believed I could be more consistent but flawed swing mechanics ate away at my confidence, particularly, when the pressure was on. Demands of my growing family and business activities caused me to again put the golf on the back burner for almost 10 years.

Once again, time allowed and I was back out on the practice tee, but I just could not achieve what I thought at the time what I believed were the proper positions and angles of accomplished players. I would later realize the value of bio mechanics that would solve many of my swing issues. Frustrated, I studied Ben Hogan, Greg Norman, Moe Norman and many other accomplished players. I also studied various swing techniques. Moe Norman's unique technique seemed to stand out. I began working on his methodology and things seemed to fall into place. My ball flight improved and I felt I was on the right track. Past Results

Literally thousands of practice balls later, I emerged with a repeatable technique I could count on under pressure.
Again, I looked to tested my belief. Things were better but I realized I made mental mistakes which had nothing to do with my swing technique. I set out to better understand unconscious behavior and how to manage my thoughts when playing golf. I began to study different strategies and continue to learn how to best apply mental techniques to improve my play.

Now 50 years old with all my kids in college, I have committed himself to playing tournaments. A humbling experience the summer of 2011 when trying to qualify for the US Senior Open at Fairbanks Ranch, I learned the value of hitting fairways and greens. This experience was the catalyst that made me focus on these areas and begin studying Homer Kelley's, The Golfing Machine.

However, in March of 2011, my wife and I embarked on the unexpected journey. Karen, was not feeling well. Results from a CT Scan and a Colonoscopy confirmed she had Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer... at the age of 48. She has since undergone successful surgery and as of Oct. 2011 she completed 6 months of Chemo Therapy at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, California. She was well cared for and after a full body CT SCAN she has been given a clean bill of health... with the caveat of further investigation of her liver and being closely and regularly monitored. Karen is pretty tough and today she is doing well. We pray, remain positive and hopeful.

My study and application of the The Golfing Machine, to put it simply, has taken my game to the next level. Particularly when explained by Lynn Blake of Lynn Blake Golf.

Applying the same focus on my putting, I have also recently changed my putting technique. I now use the technique called, Face-On-Putting. Initially, when I first started to play golf, I putted the traditional two handed style and used a Ping Anser putter. I moved to the pendulum style well before that style became popular. I think I used that technique for 10 years or so. As for Face-on-Putting, I believe it is THE BEST WAY TO PUTT... PERIOD. I wish I would have changed to this style years ago."

I have been learning about golf and working on my game for many years now . I have come to realize... life is too short to not do what what you have a passion for... particularly when you know you have what it takes. As a result, I have set my sites on the Champions Tour and look forward to playing tournament golf professionally.
